Classes, Field Trips and cool things for Arizona Homeschoolers

Arizona has a large and  active homeschooling community.  It’s been a pleasant surprise to see how many businesses and organizations support that community.  Here’s a list of classes, field trips and resources available to homeschoolers in Arizona:

Arizona Families for Home Education.  AFHE should be your 1st stop for information and resources on homeschooling in Arizona.  They offer articles, information about homeschooling laws in AZ, an annual convention, a listing of support groups state wide, speakers to attend your homeschool related events and a host of other resources.

The Arizona Science Center offers homeschool science classes at Usury Park and at the science center in downtown Phoenix.  They also host an annual homeschool science fair.

Phoenix Zoo offers homeschool science classes monthly.

Covenant Resource Center offers a variety of homeschool classes, testing services and has a great new and used curriculum store.

As You Wish Pottery offers homeschool socials monthly.  They offer discounted make your own pottery sessions for homeschool kids.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum offers homeschool days multiple times a year that include a themed guided educational tour.

Butterfly Wonderland offers homeschool days multiple times a year at a steep discount from their regular prices.  This includes a group educational tour.

Challenger Space Center offers homeschool days with educational activities included.

Heritage Square and Rosson House offer a fun homeschool day with a tour and educational program.

Ikea offers a homeschool week with activities and learning opportunities

Krazy Air Trampoline park offers homeschool days.

Sealife Aquarium offers homeschool day including a short educational science class, quarterly.

Sky Zone Peoria offer homeschool days

Wet and Wild offers homeschool days

Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center offers homeschool science classes

The Musical Instrument Museum in North Phoenix offers periodic homeschool days as well as educator days.

Jan Parsons performing arts field trips.  Jan is a Phoenix area homeschool mom who coordinates a substantial number of field trips to see plays, symphonies and ballets in the Phoenix metro area.  She also has a fantastic email newsletter.

Hobby Lobby in Peoria and Avondale offer weekly homeschool art classes with Miss Meri.  Classes are offered on Wednesday in Peoria and on Friday in Avondale.

World Wildlife Zoo in Litchfield Park offers a great discounted rate for field trips that is also available to homeschool groups as long as they can meet the minimum number of students.

Arizona Puppet Theater offers puppet shows, study guides and often offers discounted tickets.

Grand Canyon National Park offers free ranger lead field trips.

Arizona Natural History Museum offers quarterly hands on homeschool days.

We Make History offers numerous festivals and dances that re-enact historical periods in US history.

Arizona Renaissance Festival offers student days annually at a discounted rate.  On student days there are generally more educational exhibits set up as well.

Estrella Wars is similar to a renaissance fair, but more educational as I understand it.

Vertuccio Farms offers homeschool days periodically

The Olive Mill in Queen Creek offers several tours.  The Olive Oil 101 tour is short, inexpensive and interesting.

The Hassayampa River Preserve near Wickenburg offer a number of classes, events and Jr. Ranger programs.

Maricopa County Regional Parks offer a variety of ranger lead educational programs very cheap or free at a number of different parks.

Swim Neptune offers a number of homeschool swim team groups throughout the valley.

Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek offers school tours also open to homeschoolers.

Shamrock Farms Dairy offers group tours of the dairy farm and milking facility – and they always have baby cows!

Sports Kids AZ offers homeschool PE classes around the valley.

Superstition Farms Dairy Farm in Mesa offers farm tours for student groups

Peter Piper Pizza offers behind the scenes student tours.

Branches Homeschool Community is an educational co-op with two locations in the Valley, Biltmore and West Valley.  They offer weekly homeschool classes.

East Valley Athletes for Christ offers homeschool athletic teams and leagues.

ESA National Honor Society Omicron Beta Chapter.  National Honor Society for homschoolers.

Interact homeschool club is a homeschool service club associated with Rotary.

Just Field Trips is just that.  A group of Arizona homeschoolers that plan and attend field trips and leverage the size of the group for some great discounts.

Moezart Productions is a homeschool community theater group.

STEM opportunities for Homeschoolers.  This is a Facebook group focused on identifying and coordinating STEM opportunities for Homeschoolers in Arizona.

Arizona Fish and Game offers a number of homeschool educational opportunities and events.

AZ Ice Peoria offers Homeschool Ice Skating classes during the day at a reduced price.

Desert Botanical Gardens offers Learning Labs Homeschool Science classes.

Cerreta Chocolate Factory in Glendale offers free tours and fun hands on chocolate making experiences for an additional fee.

    I stumbled across your website while searching for Hobby Lobby homeschool classes. This list is FABULOUS! I had no idea so many resources existed locally. The listing for Branches and Covenant Resource Center may have just saved our family’s homeschool. I’m on burnout and we were |this| close to accepting an opening in a local charter school for one of our 4 kiddos
